The College of Political Science at Baghdad University discussed a Dissertation entitled (the impact of Corona pandemic on the transformations of the world order and its implications on the position of the United States of America) by the student, “Tamara Kadhim Manati”, The dissertation deals with the repercussions of Corona pandemic, which led to shifts in the structure of the global system, but will not reach the level of radical transformations in the structure of the current world order and the American leadership of the system. It will strengthen the slowing path of globalization and the increasing self-sufficiency, as it has restored the controversy over several concepts such as the growing role of the national state and the system of governing values of the world order. A new global balance of power may emerge from it and it may have the tendency to more distribution and pluralism, in addition to the growing competitive nature among great and major powers, especially between the United States of America and China.
The study reaches several conclusions, perhaps the most prominent of which may lead the crisis of Corona pandemic to change the current world order, but not radically; However, the effects that have caused them have led to important transformations in the global political scene at all political, economic, cultural, security, and health levels. Therefore it will be difficult to predict what the global system will be after the pandemic and who will take the lead, and who will be at the higher levels of the hierarchy of the global system, but the United States will remain at the forefront of the global system. The latter tries to maintain its position and shape as a global power in light of having real mechanisms for influence as a result of its capabilities to overcome crises because of the elements of military, economic, and technological power, as well as the inability of the competing forces to bear the burden of leadership in the medium future.
At the end of the viva, the researcher was awarded a doctorate degree with appreciation of “Excellence”, wishing all students success in their academic and practical lives.
