On Thursday morning, June 19, 2025, the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis submitted by student Hawra Thamer Abdul Hassan, entitled:
“Employing the Cyber ​​Variable in International Conflicts: Selected Models.” The discussion took place in the college’s Hurria Hall, in the presence of a number of professors and researchers.

The thesis highlighted cyberspace as a vital variable in the nature of international conflicts. Cyberspace has become a tool for achieving strategic objectives through cyberattacks and digital espionage, without resorting to traditional confrontation. It also analyzed contemporary models and identified the legal frameworks and actors in this field.

The Master’s viva committee consisted of:
• Prof. Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi – Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Research and Development Department – ​​Chairman
• Asst. Prof. Dr. Adel Abdul Hamza Thajil – College of Political Science, University of Baghdad – Member
• Asst. Prof. Dr. Salim Gatea Ali – College of Political Science, University of Baghdad – Member
• Prof. Dr. Abbas Hashim Aziz – College of Political Science, University of Baghdad – Supervisor

After extensive academic scientific discussion, the committee decided to award the student a Master’s degree in Political Science with a grade of “Very Good.”
