The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad welcomed the National Institutional Accreditation Assessment Team for an official visit. The visit aimed to evaluate the college’s adherence to the institutional accreditation standards adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to review the current academic and administrative performance, and to assess the college’s readiness to obtain or maintain institutional accreditation, in accordance with the requirements of quality, governance, and sound management.
During the visit, an extensive meeting was held with Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Abdul Hamza Al-Badawi, Dean of the College, and in the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Hisham Ezz El-Din, Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs. The assessment team discussed several key topics, most notably the organizational and administrative structure, decision-making mechanisms, quality assurance systems, continuous improvement, and the policies and procedures adopted to support the educational and research process.
The visit yielded several important outcomes, including a comprehensive preliminary assessment of the college’s current status in light of institutional accreditation standards. This assessment identified the college’s strengths, particularly in academic and organizational aspects, while also pinpointing areas for improvement and challenges that necessitate the development of future improvement plans. Practical recommendations were also made to enhance the quality of institutional and academic performance.
This visit also reflects the College of Political Science’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 4: Quality Education. This commitment is demonstrated through enhancing the quality of higher education and ensuring that academic programs align with national and international standards, thereby contributing to the development of qualified professionals capable of addressing societal challenges and participating in sustainable development.
