The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad, organizes a training course titled “The Art of Negotiation.” Held at the college’s postgraduate halls from Sunday, December 14, 2025, to Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the course features daily training sessions from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, concluding with an evaluative examination on the final day.
The course aims to develop the negotiation skills of faculty members, staff, and students by introducing various negotiation styles and stages. It seeks to deepen the understanding of historical and theoretical dimensions of negotiation while enhancing the participants’ ability to employ these skills in the workplace, decision-making processes, and building professional relationships based on dialogue and mutual understanding.
The four-day curriculum covers diverse thematic areas:
Day 1: Negotiation styles and essential skill sets.
Day 2: The historical perspective of the art of negotiation.
Day 3: Transitioning negotiation from theoretical behavior to formal practice.
Day 4: Negotiation as a tool for success in the workplace, followed by a final proficiency exam.
The course concludes with several key recommendations, most notably: leveraging the course outcomes to bolster negotiation skills in teaching, administration, and institutional work. It also advocates for integrating negotiation and conflict resolution topics into the Continuing Education Unit’s annual plans and encouraging advanced workshops to refine communication patterns and foster a collaborative university environment.
