On Monday morning, November 24, 2025, the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis by student Zainab Mohsen Laibi, entitled:
“The Role of Women in Building Civil Peace in Post-Conflict Areas After 2003: Iraq as a Model.” The discussion took place in the Dr. Jihad Al-Hassani Hall.
The examining committee consisted of the following faculty members:
Prof. Dr. Abbas Hashim Aziz – Chair
Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim Kadhim Ajil – Member
Assistant Professor Dr. Sudad Mawloud Saba’ – Member
Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Mahdi Saleh – Member and Supervisor
The thesis demonstrated that women’s participation is a fundamental element in achieving civil peace and social stability in Iraq. It emphasized that empowering women at both the legislative and societal levels is a strategic necessity for promoting justice and sustainable development, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). At the conclusion of the discussion, the committee awarded the student a grade of “very good” for her thesis
