In commemoration of the International Day of Non-Violence, established by the United Nations in 2007, the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad affirmed its deep commitment to its academic and humanitarian mission of spreading the values of peace, tolerance, and dialogue, and instilling the principles of respect for human beings and rejecting all forms of violence.
The College explained that this occasion represents a global reminder that the culture of non-violence is not merely an intellectual or moral choice, but rather a way of life and a civilized practice based on resolving conflicts through peaceful means, promoting social justice, and supporting sustainable development paths.
The College also emphasized that building a just and secure society begins with enlightened awareness and responsible thinking, emphasizing that the university campus should be a space for diversity, mutual respect, and deep understanding, reflecting the role of universities in shaping a generation armed with a culture of dialogue and the values of peaceful coexistence.
The College concluded by emphasizing that commemorating the International Day of Non-Violence aligns with the university’s pioneering role in preparing future leaders and consolidating Iraqi academic identity as a lever for peace, knowledge, and humanity.
