Under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Abdul Hamza Al-Budewi, and as part of the Women’s Affairs Unit’s strategic plan, the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad organized two scientific workshops that discussed issues of women’s empowerment.

The first workshop entitled “Women in the World of Artificial Intelligence,” was presented by Instructor Dr. Rana Abdul Hussein Ali Al-Dulaimi, Instructor Dr. Ayat Nasser Jaber, and Assistant Instructor Amani Muhammad Sabri. It focused on the opportunities of artificial intelligence in supporting women in the fields of work, education, and community participation, addressing as well the technical challenges they face.

The second workshop entitled “The Role of Women in Reducing the Phenomenon of Domestic Violence,” addressed the forms of violence against women, its causes and effects, and ways to empower and address it.

The two workshops concluded with several recommendations, most notably: supporting women in acquiring artificial intelligence skills, launching training programs, strengthening supportive digital policies, combating technological bias, enacting laws that deter domestic violence, and enhancing awareness, psychological, and social support for abused women.

The two workshops concluded with active discussion sessions that affirmed the college’s commitment to its role in empowering women and promoting equality in society.
