A Master’s thesis entitled:
“The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Addressing Security Threats: The European Union as a Model”
was discussed at the College of Political Science – University of Baghdad. The thesis was presented by researcher Mustafa Mohammed Hussein, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Munaim Khamis Mukhlef.
The examination committee consisted of:

- Professor Dr. Mohammed Mundher Jalal – Member
- Assistant Professor Dr. Donia Jwad Motluk – Member
- Professor Dr. Muneam Khamis Mukhlif – Supervisor
The thesis comprised three chapters and focused on the use of artificial intelligence technologies in confronting security threats, with the European Union serving as a practical model. It highlighted the role of AI in supporting security policies through tools such as data analysis, risk prediction, and pattern recognition, making it a central element in European security strategies.
The study also addressed the challenges associated with the use of these technologies, particularly the risks of misuse by illegitimate actors, as well as the legal and ethical dilemmas they pose for policymakers.
The research concluded that artificial intelligence is an effective strategic tool for enhancing European security. However, its effectiveness depends on a careful balance between technological advancement and legal and ethical safeguards, ensuring the safe and legitimate use of these technologies within a framework that respects fundamental rights and freedoms.
At the end of the discussion session, the researcher Mustafa Mohammed Hussein was awarded an Excellent grade, with the examination committee commending the quality of the research and the significance of its topic in addressing contemporary security challenges.
