The Department of Political Thought at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad organized a workshop entitled “Concepts Alien to Iraqi Society.” The workshop was held in Dr. Jihad al-Hasani Hall at 12:30 PM, with the attendance of several professors and Instructors.

Instructors from the Department of Political Thought including: Dr. Nizar Muhammad Judeh, Dr. Haider Ali Abdullah, and Asst. Instr. Hussein Ali Sabri participated in the workshop. They analyzed the intellectual and behavioral changes that have occurred in Iraqi society in recent years, due to external influences and volatile political and social conditions.

The workshop highlighted the ways in which these concepts have infiltrated the societal structure through the media and social media, and the resulting decline in some authentic values ​​and the emergence of behaviors inconsistent with national identity.

The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably: enhancing intellectual awareness, activating oversighting over digital content, intensifying awareness campaigns, and supporting the role of the family and educational and religious institutions in confronting cultural and intellectual invasion.

This workshop affirms the college’s commitment to keeping pace with current intellectual and societal challenges, and consolidating its role in promoting national and cultural values.
