The Unit of Woman Affairs in cooperation with the continuing education unit in the college of political science arranged a training workshop entitled “Woman and Firemen: Challenges and strength in Facing Fires”, this workshop established with the cooperation of civil defense department on Tuesday at 11 AM at Al- Huria Hall in the collage.
The workshop established with the presentation of Dr. Rana Abdul-Hussain head of woman affairs unit which entitled “The Safety and Woman Rights in the Field of Fire Fighting”, the presentation showed the challenges that face women in this respect with shedding lights on the necessity of enabling the woman and offering equal chances to actively participate in different types of jobs.
In his presentation, Colonel Hussam Qassim Abdul-Zahra, from the department of civil defense, reviewed the recent technicians in firefighting and confirmed on the important role of firemen in facing fires and the importance of coordination between different governmental institutions and Academic society to guarantee the safety of everyone in case of emergencies
Dr. Ayat Nassir a member in the unit of woman affairs delivered her presentation entitled “Policies and Programs that Support the Volunteered Woman”, in which she presented the national and regional policies that support the woman participation in this respect and how to enhance the woman roles in firefighting field.
The workshop included, constructive discussions about developing training programs for women, and promoting their participation in firefighting with updating the procedures of public safety in the educational constitutions. It also confirmed the necessity of the continuous coordination between Universities and civil defense departments to raise the awareness concerning the possible risks, and organizing training courses to face fires in different educational institutions.
Number of Academic figures and student attended the workshop and interacted with the presentations, which enhanced the future protective awareness among the attendance.
