The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad examined the doctoral thesis entitled “The Intellectual Foundations of Arab Normalization with the Israeli Entity: A Critical Study” by student Ismail Akbar Mohammed, supervised by Professor Dr. Tarek Abdel Hafiz. The thesis addressed Arab normalization with the (Israeli entity) and its ensuing political, economic, and religious strategies. It is regarded as part of a new model aimed at establishing regional blocs with a political flavor that transcend national and ethnic boundaries. Essentially, it seeks to enable this entity to dominate the Arab region and to appropriate national and religious identities, as well as its resources, by invoking shared historical ties in the region, technological capacities, and the potential international fears regarding diminishing resources and their mismanagement by certain states, including some Arab states. Behind normalization with the Arab states lies the project of a “New Middle East” and the American and Western ambitions to keep the region—and its energy reserves—away from any potential competition from major or superpowers.
At the end of the discussion, the researcher was awarded a “Very Good” grade, with best wishes for success to all our students in their academic and professional lives.
