The Department of Political Thought in the College of Political Science, the University of Baghdad hosted a workshop entitled “Methods for Achieving Sustainable Development in Iraq.” The workshop elucidated the importance of sustainable development as one of the most coveted objectives for both developed and developing countries. It also highlighted the necessity to accommodate the current demands of life through achieving self-sufficiency and meeting the needs of today’s Iraqi society. In the closing remarks, several recommendations evolved. The most significant is the pressing need to reduce dependence on oil by enhancing the agricultural, industrial, and tourism sectors. This, on its part, plays a crucial role in creating an appealing investment environment by simplifying administrative and taxation measures. In addition to developing a fair tax system that supports middle- and low-income groups.
