The college of Political Science of Baghdad University held a seminar entitled “Elections to governorate councils, legal framework and political reality”, sponsored and attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Badaywi and his Associate for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Hisham Ezzedin Majed.
Dr. Ghassan al-Saad’s symposium aimed to highlight the elections to the provincial councils, to be held this month, as a significant event affecting public life, as well as to discuss mechanisms to enhance the voter’s confidence in the electoral process on the one hand and on the other to strengthen the academic role of the university student in order to present democratic practices in the right to vote.
The symposium dealt with several topics, notably the dissemination of the Provincial Councils Act, the discussion of its various provisions and the powers and functions conferred on elected councils and their members.
At the end of the symposium, the gentlemen opened a dialogue to answer their questions and questions about the elections to the provincial councils.
