The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the doctoral thesis entitled “Public health policies and their impact on sustainable human development in Iraq after 2005” by the student “Faten Falih Mahdi.”
The thesis dealt with an important topic that links two main variables: public health policy (independent) and sustainable human development (dependent) and the relationship between them. The researcher discussed the reality of health policies in Iraq after 2005 and touched on the most important problems facing the health sector in Iraq. The thesis also addressed the most important The national strategies and plans developed by successive Iraqi governments to develop the health situation. The thesis also examined the official and informal institutions concerned with making, drawing, implementing and protecting health in Iraq. The thesis also examined the reality of sustainable development indicators in Iraq and the extent of their impact on the health of the Iraqi individual. The study examined the extent to which governance mechanisms are applied. Health care in order to sustain the reality of health institutions. In addition, the study addressed the impact of health policies on sustainable human development and studied them practically through a questionnaire that was distributed to Iraqi public opinion in various governorates of Iraq. At the end of the thesis, the researcher highlighted a number of recommendations, the most important of which is strengthening oversight The state oversees health institutions in the public and private sectors, and modernizes national health legislation in line with modern global developments.
