The workshop analyzed the evolution of extremism and terrorism in the digital space and examined how contemporary technologies and platforms are used to spread extremist ideas and manipulate public opinion. It also examined prevention and countermeasures, highlighted the importance of strengthening digital awareness and intellectual security, and emphasized the role of institutions in building individuals’ capacity to engage critically and safely with digital content, thereby mitigating associated risks.
The discussions confirmed the need to expand awareness of the dangers of digital extremism, foster a culture of safe and responsible technology use, and support institutional cooperation to prevent and counter extremist ideologies. These initiatives strengthen intellectual security and raise public awareness of the risks of extremist exploitation in the digital domain.
