The College of political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the Master’s thesis titled “Public Policies for Combating Drug Abuse and Their Impact on Iraqi Societal Security after 2003” by student Ammar Qadouri Ali.
The theses dealt with the main causes of the spread of the drug phenomenon in Iraq, since the proliferation of drugs posed a serious challenge and threat to the State as a phenomenon of different health, social, economic, political and security dimensions,the worsening drug problem in Iraq has had a significant impact on society and the state, especially after the US occupation in 2003, along with the political, economic, social, and security crises that accompanied the change in the political system in Iraq,as a result of the occupation forces’ policies, chaos, insecurity, open borders with neighbouring countries, insufficient protection and weak customs control over the conduct of goods and goods entering Iraq,this has led to the widespread phenomenon of drugs in society, the prevalence of crimes of all kinds and forms, money-laundering operations and the support of terrorism, which has in some way affected community security. …
