The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the doctoral dissertation entitled “General development policy and its impact on addressing levels of poverty and unemployment in Iraq after the year (2003)” by the student “Aqil Muften Khafif Hamza”
The thesis dealt with an important topic related to the planning processes for managing the Iraqi economy, and the tools that were allocated for economic policies, as they were supposed to bring about development that could bring about changes in the political, economic and social dimensions, in a way that allows dealing with cases of poverty and unemployment, in addition to working to meet the service requirements and needs of the state and citizens
The thesis showed the reasons why development policies were unable to achieve reform in the Iraqi economy, including: increasing services, improving the purchasing power of citizens in Iraq, and reducing unemployment rates. The research confirmed, while analyzing the subject, that the general development policy of Iraq, after the year (2003) Most of the challenges and obstacles are political and security, and part of the causes are due to: the absence of appropriate planning, the predominance of political considerations over economic considerations in planning the economy, and errors in diagnosing And an assessment of the economic and social conditions, which appeared in more than one indicator, including: the continuation of the infrastructure problem, the continuation of the services crisis, the increase in unemployment and poverty levels, and the waste of resources, for example but not limited to, despite the wide value of the resources that have been allocated, humanly, financially and materially, in development policies. This study was divided into four chapters.
At the end of the discussion, the researcher was awarded a doctorate degree with a grade of “very good.” We wish all our students success in their academic and practical lives.
