The College of Political Science – University of Baghdad dispatched an official delegation to the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network as part of its efforts to expand avenues of institutional cooperation and enhance integration between the academic and media fields.

The delegation met with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Thaer Al-Ghanmi, and the Vice Chairperson, Ms. Sanaa Saeed, where discussions focused on ways to develop partnership between the two sides, particularly in employing the specialized academic expertise hosted by the College to support rigorous political analysis, thereby contributing to strengthening media discourse and enhancing its professionalism.

Both sides emphasized the importance of entrusting political analysis to qualified academic specialists, in a manner that enhances the presence of scientific perspectives in the media sphere and helps limit the phenomenon of impersonating political analysts by unqualified individuals, thereby preserving the integrity of the specialization and safeguarding public awareness.

The meeting also addressed the national role undertaken by the Iraqi Media Network in building a unified media discourse that reinforces national identity and serves the public interest, stressing the need to sustain coordination and cooperation to achieve shared objectives.

This visit aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through strengthening cooperation between the University and national institutions.

The visit concluded with a field tour during which the delegation reviewed a number of directorates of the Iraqi Media Network and their working mechanisms, reflecting the College’s commitment to enhancing effective partnership between academic knowledge and media practice.
