On Monday, March 16, 2026, the Student Activities Division/Volunteer Work Unit at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad, organized an initiative to donate Qur’ans, prayer beads, and prayer rugs to Al-Zahraa Husseiniya in the Zaafaraniya district. The initiative was sponsored by the Dean of the College and saw the participation of several faculty members and staff who contributed.
The initiative was based on University of Baghdad letter No. (1384) dated February 24, 2026, which included the Ramadan Initiative for Volunteer Work document. The initiative aimed to express commitment to religious values and the dissemination of goodwill, as well as to strengthen social bonds through participation in charitable work, reflecting the role of the academic institution in serving the community and fostering a culture of solidarity.
Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, the initiative aligns with Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by supporting community institutions, and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by promoting social cohesion and solidarity.
The college emphasizes the importance of continuing volunteer initiatives and strengthening cooperation between the academic institution and the local community to reinforce the values of giving and social responsibility.
