The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis submitted by the student Omar Shalal Mohammed Mousa, entitled:
“The Role of Sustainable Development in Peacebuilding in Post-Conflict Areas after 2003: Iraq as a Model”
The thesis consisted of three chapters addressing the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development, along with an analysis of reconstruction policies in Iraq after 2003. The study emphasized that comprehensive development represents a fundamental pillar for achieving peace and reducing the likelihood of renewed conflicts, through the creation of job opportunities, the improvement of infrastructure, the enhancement of justice, and the empowerment of social groups.
The examination committee was composed of:

- Asst. Prof. Dr. Basel Mohsen Mehna – Member
- Asst. Prof. Basma Khalil Nameq – Member and Supervisor
Following an extensive academic discussion, the committee decided to award the student the degree of Master of Political Science with a grade of Very Good.
