Assistant Professor Dr. Adel AlBudiwi, Dean of the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad, received Lieutenant General Karim Al-Tamimi, Head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, to discuss cooperation mechanisms between academic and security institutions
In his speech, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Budaiwi, Dean of the College, emphasized on the need to strengthen the environment of cooperation and integration with state institutions by providing them with the academic and scientific expertise and solutions beside engaging in joint scientific activities and workshops, things which will genuinely lead to contribute in applying the theoretical scientific research into the absolute priority fields of institutions.
For his part, Lieutenant General Karim Al-Tamimi, head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, delivered a lecture entitled “Transitioning from Providing a Safe and Stable Environment to a State of Sustainable Security.” During his lecture, he mentioned the establishment and foundation of the CTS , its working conditions, and its missions, as well as the battles on the ground to protect Iraq’s national security. He emphasized that the Iraqi CTS has achieved a prestigious international status, and that many developed countries have expressed their interest in cooperating with the Iraqi CTS to benefit from their practical expertise, explaining that the CTS is also focusing on developing its capabilities in the field of cyber security, by cooperating with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research , Iraqi universities ,and embracing people of expert, and skilled students in the field of cyber security, emphasizing that the service pays great attention to the families of martyrs and the wounded, different groups of society, as well as school and university students ; in order to reflect more general image than a specific or an image that is limited to the operational aspect only. Finally, the door was opened to answer questions and inquiries of attendance about the lecture.
