A faculty member at the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad, Assistant Professor Basma Khalil Namik Al-Oqati, participated in a workshop organized by the Department of Legal Studies in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at Al-Mustansiriya University titled “The Al-Aqsa Flood: Is it a Palestinian Production or Something Else? An Analytical Reading of the Data and Hypotheses.”
During her lecture, Al-Oqati pointed out that the Al-Aqsa Flood operation that took place on October 7, 2023, represented a shock and surprise element for the Israeli entity. It was likened to the Yom Kippur War in 1973 in terms of timing and methods used. The attack came as a surprise to the entity due to the scale and speed of the assault, which disrupted the Israeli defense systems that were not prepared to defend against this attack. She explained the Arab position, which was not at the required level as no Arab state took any real initiative to support the Palestinian cause. She emphasized the need to take initiatives to strengthen support for the Palestinian cause, especially after the serious violations suffered by Palestinian citizens that contradict all international treaties, norms, and laws.
