The Political Systems Department at the College of Political Science/ University of Baghdad held a workshop entitled “The Political Role of Women after 2003,” sponsored by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Budaiwi.
The workshop, which was moderated by Professor Dr. Ibtisam Muhammad Abd and Asst. Inst. Miqdam Jaber Ahmed, included discussion of a group of research papers by the participants. The workshop came out with a number of recommendations, most notably the adoption of realistic and practical political and legal mechanisms to enhance women’s political participation in Iraq, as well as unifying women’s demands related to ensuring their participation with civil society organizations to communicate with governmental institutions concerned with women. In addition to the emphasis on enhancing women’s participation in executive, judicial, and security institutions.
At the end of the workshop, an open discussion was inaugurated for the attending professors in order to answer their questions and inquiries about the research papers delivered during the workshop.
The workshop was attended by the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Hisham Ezz El-Din Majeed, the Head of the Political Systems Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Al-Jubouri, the Director of the Center of Strategic and International Studies, Assistant Professor Dr. Asaad Tarish Abdel Redha, and a number of distinguished professors.
