About the department

The specialization of international studies is one of the disciplines associated with the study of all relations between states, and it is a branch of political science, and it is not limited to what is related to politics only, but the specialization is related to international relations in all its dimensions, economic, ideological, cultural and social, and what is related to the foreign and internal affairs of states, and the specialization benefits From many scientific fields, including psychology, sociology, geography, history and international law.

Department Vision

The Department of International Studies aspires to be a leading academic and research contributor in the fields of international relations and global policies, through the preparation of distinguished scientific cadres who possess a deep understanding of international and regional interactions, and are capable of contributing intellectually to foreign policy decision-making, thereby enhancing the position of the College and the University in serving both local and international communities.

Department Message

The Department of International Studies works to prepare outstanding graduates equipped with theoretical knowledge and research and analytical skills in the fields of international relations and global policies, enabling them to understand international challenges and contribute to the development of knowledge-based decision-making, while promoting the values of dialogue, cooperation, and community service at both local and international levels.

Department Goals

General Objective: To prepare qualified individuals capable of delving deeply into the study of international relations, equipped with analytical methods and the ability to employ scientific research techniques based on objectivity and precision in the scientific description of international phenomena, to reach interpretation and prediction — the core of research in international studies.

Department Structure

The Department’s work relies on joint collaboration among the faculty members, supported by the administrative structure that forms the organizational framework of the Department:

  1. Department Council

   Composed of all the faculty members of the Department and chaired by the Head of Department, it is responsible for discussing and developing matters related to the Department in order to enhance its academic and scientific level through well-studied and integrated plans proposed in consultation with council members to keep pace with modern developments in the field of international studies.

  1. Head of Department

   Works to achieve the general policy goals of the University and the College and exercises his academic and administrative powers in accordance with the applicable regulations.

  1. Department Rapporteur

   The position is held by two faculty members:

   * The first specializes in undergraduate studies and acts on behalf of the Head of Department when absent, assisting in organizing all academic and administrative affairs.

   * The second assists the Head of Department in postgraduate affairs, including organizing defenses and monitoring the progress of postgraduate lectures.

  1. Department Secretariat

   Responsible for implementing the Head of Department’s instructions, receiving and presenting correspondence, following up on incoming and outgoing mail, informing faculty members of relevant correspondence, maintaining and archiving records both physically and electronically, and organizing academic and administrative matters related to faculty and postgraduate students, including discussions, reports, and official orders.

  1. Department Registration Office

   Follow up student affairs such as attendance, academic progression, reallocation of repeating students, documentation of deferments, verification of medical transfers, and implementation of administrative orders related to student status.
