About the College

The Council of the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad is the highest academic and administrative body in the college. It is responsible for formulating its policy in line with the general policy of the university and guiding its academic and administrative progress in line with its scientific and developmental mission. The Council’s powers are distributed across several main areas, most notably: educational policies, scientific research, administrative and financial affairs, external relations and international cooperation, performance monitoring and quality assurance.

Date: 15 /April /2026.
Key Decisions:

  1. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and the Heads of Academic Departments were instructed to follow up on and complete the requirements for programmatic and academic accreditation at the College, in cooperation with the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division.
  2. All College staff members were instructed to review the Aradhi Platform in order to carefully verify the uploaded supporting documents prior to their approval.
  3. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, and the Heads of Academic Departments were instructed to comply with all examination-related instructions issued by the University.
  4. The Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs was instructed to follow up on occupational safety and civil defense matters at the College.
  5. The Follow-up Division at the College was instructed to closely monitor the performance of the College’s surveillance camera system.

  2. The Educational Guidance Unit, in coordination with the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, was instructed to organize training courses for faculty members on educational guidance and to prepare a dedicated form for this purpose.

Minutes of Sixteenth Session (Open)

Date: 29 July – 16 August 2026.
Key Decisions:

  1. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, all Heads of Academic Departments, and the Registration Division were directed to coordinate the completion of student data entry and migration for the academic years 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 and to transfer the data to the academic year 2026–2027. They were also instructed to state, in an official letter addressed to the University, the technical reasons that affected this process.
  2. A directive was issued to form a subcommittee responsible for overseeing and following up on the implementation of the Bologna Process.
  3. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, the Heads of Academic Departments, the Studies and Planning Division, and the officer in charge of the Information Technology Unit were directed to prepare a practical plan for integrating artificial intelligence applications into teaching, administration, and scientific research, subject to clear ethical safeguards, and to submit a report within 60 days.
  4. The Administrative Division was directed to eliminate administrative waste by reviewing all permanent and temporary committees at the College, dissolving inactive committees, reducing paper-based correspondence to the minimum possible level, and transitioning fully to electronic archiving.
  5. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, the Heads of Academic Departments, and the Legal Affairs Division were directed to work toward resolving problems and to adopt the principle that no transaction or complaint concerning students, faculty members, or staff should remain without an initial action for more than 72 hours, with clear accountability assigned for any delay.
  6. The Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs and the Services Division were directed to monitor the College environment and to treat cleanliness, landscaping, building maintenance, and facility upkeep as components of institutional evaluation rather than as separate service activities.
  7. Following the launch of the Young Researcher Program for undergraduate students by the President of the University, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs was directed to assign each academic department three promising undergraduate research papers or projects, except for the Department of International Studies, which was assigned four. The selected projects are to be linked with experienced faculty members, and promising research is to be selected by the Scientific Committee.
  8. The Dean’s Office and the officer in charge of the Information Technology Unit were directed to establish a monthly channel for receiving the best development proposals from students, staff, and faculty members, with recognition or rewards for the best feasible initiatives.
  9. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and the Quality Assurance Division were directed to conduct periodic electronic surveys to measure student satisfaction with administrative and educational services and to link the results to improvement plans.
  10. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs was directed to prepare a monthly plan for community-engagement activities and to implement at least one high-quality community activity each month that establishes a partnership with society and creates a tangible impact beyond the University campus.
  11. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, the Legal Affairs Division, the Registration Division, and the Administrative Division were directed to review internal regulations by forming College working teams to identify instructions and procedures that impede efficient completion of work and to propose their amendment or simplification.
  12. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs were directed to adopt the new visual identity based on the University’s official founding date (1908) and to standardize all correspondence, electronic platforms, and events in a manner that reflects the status and heritage of the University of Baghdad.
  13. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, the Administrative Division, and the Audit Division were directed to implement an early-warning approach to risk management and to submit a brief monthly report identifying the most significant academic, financial, or administrative risks before they escalate, together with proposed remedial measures.
  14. The Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and the Quality Assurance Division were directed to adopt monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the College covering scientific research, quality of education, community service, digital transformation, and financial discipline, to serve as a basis for evaluation and decision-making.
  15. A recommendation was made to approve the projects included in the College faculty’s scientific research plan for the academic year 2025–2026.
  16. A recommendation was made to approve the award of doctoral and master’s degrees in Political Science to a number of postgraduate students at the College.
  17. A recommendation was made to ratify the graduation averages and names of graduates and forward them to the University of Baghdad / Department of Registration and Student Affairs for the issuance of official university graduation orders.
  18. A recommendation was made to approve a reduction in tuition fees for a group of undergraduate students enrolled in the evening program, based on legitimate grounds.
  19. Approval was granted for the formation of thesis/dissertation defense committees for a number of postgraduate students.
  20. Approval was granted for the registration of the proposed dissertation titles of doctoral postgraduate students who passed the first examination attempt in the academic year 2025–2026, for all departments.
  21. Approval was granted to allow certain applicants to apply for doctoral and master’s study at the College under the seat-reallocation mechanism and to determine the required course-equivalency requirements for them.
