The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entitled “The Impact of Ethnic Conflicts on the Political Transformations of Central Asian Countries after 1991” by the student “Maryam Ahmed Jassam”.
The letter dealt with ethnic conflicts during their independence, which is one of the things witnessed by the republics of Central Asia, as these ethnic conflicts increased after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and its independence in 1991, because these republics are multiple in ethnic terms, and these conflicts constituted an obstacle to achieving political transformation Towards democracy, and this was an internal factor in front of those republics
As for the external factor, it is the international competition over that region because of its geostrategic location, in addition to the fact that it includes several natural resources, as each country has developed arguments and justifications for the purpose of proving its presence in this region, and the most important of these countries is Russia, as it used a justification that is protecting Russian nationals in the region. At the same time, the United States of America took advantage of the events of September 11, 2001, by entering these republics to protect the region from extremist fundamentalist movements and limit Russian expansion in the region.
At the end of the discussion, the researcher was awarded a master’s degree with a grade of “very good”. We wish all our students success in their academic and practical lives .
