Under the auspices of the Dean’s office, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit and the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Political Science, organized a workshop entitled “The Role of Women in Achieving Stability: Safe Immigration.”
Asst. Prof. Basma Khalil Nameq, the head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, began the workshop with the first research paper where she introduced the concept of immigration, its motivations, and various types. She also provided a detailed analysis of the fundamental distinctions between legal and illegal immigration.
Dr. Alia Abdul Ameer Abdul Majid contributed a research paper titled “The International Legal Framework for Women’s Protection in the Context of Migration: Legal Analysis and Challenges.” Her paper examined key international agreements relevant to the topic and provided a critical assessment of the obstacles that hinder their effective implementation in practice.
The third presenter, Assistant Lecturer Dalia Abdul Salam Abdul Wahid, showcased several case studies featuring successful migrant women. With these models, she highlighted their achievements, the challenges they faced, and the lessons drawn from their experiences.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably the reaffirmation of the essential role of women’s empowerment as a fundamental approach to ensuring safe immigration, while also emphasizing that women are not merely affected by immigration but also serve as key actors in fostering stability and security within societies.
