The Arabic Language Safety Unit at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific symposium entitled “The Theory of Nazm by Abdul Qahir Al-Jurjani and Its Relation to the Arabic Sentence.”
Dr. Shaimaa Mohamed Ubaid, head of the unit, in collaboration with Dr. Hussein Fadel Abbas, stated that the symposium addressed the concept of the Theory of Nazm, which asserts that a system of intricate and organic relationships binds together the words and expressions that constitute the Arabic sentence. She explained that a text is essentially a network of interconnections among these words and expressions, making each element indispensable. This implies that the text is a cohesive fabric of interwoven components.
The symposium concluded with a recommendation emphasizing the necessity of focusing on sentence structure and the various meanings inferred from the text, based on the principle of selecting the most appropriate word to express a particular event within its given context.
