The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Political Science in the University of Baghdad held a workshop about “Enhancing the role of youth in the decision-making process,” in reference to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research that include implementing the programs of the National Strategy of Education and Higher Education (2022-2031) related to the development and training aspects in relation to continuing education centers, the Division of Rehabilitation and Employment, and Follow-up Unit in all universities.
The workshop addressed expanding the scope of youth participation in the decision-making process and enhancing it at all levels, as well as the need for effective participation in student activities and associations to enhance leadership and communication skills.
The workshop reached a number of recommendations, most notably taking advantage of the available educational opportunities to deepen young people’s understanding of the issues surrounding them, as well as communicating and cooperating with relevant authorities to influence university policies and to make decisions about student issues, with an emphasis on encouraging open and frank dialogue between the youth and the authorities who are responsible for decision-making.
