Ibn Sina Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Political Science in the University of Baghdad, held a symposium entitled “Promoting the Culture of Intellectual Security among University Youth,” under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Budaiwi.
The official in charge of the Ibn Sina Integrated Education Unit, Dr. Iyad Malek Abdel Majeed, indicated that the symposium discussed many research papers that made it clear that intellectual security has become a global concern, a national demand, and a strategic vision that mobilizes all members of society to achieve it. Society’s various institutions are responsible for achieving intellectual security, as educational institutions are at the forefront of these institutions, given the tremendous progress in social media, as the speed of the spread of ideas and their access to all societies has increased.
The symposium concluded many recommendations, the most prominent of which are universities organizing workshops and dialogue sessions in order to enhance the comprehensive national vision for intellectual security, in addition to emphasizing the activation of the roles of civil society institutions in promoting intellectual security, and updating the ministerial educational curriculum that contributes to strengthening intellectual security.
At the end of the symposium, the dialogue was opened for the attendees in order to answer their questions and inquiries about the topic of the symposium.
