The College of Political Science, in collaboration with the Women’s Empowerment Unit and the Educational and Psychological Counseling Unit, organized a workshop titled “Foreign Concepts in Iraqi Society: Homosexuality as a Case Study,” under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Adel Al-Badawi.
The workshop addressed the most significant foreign concepts affecting Iraqi society, including homosexuality and its negative impact, particularly as it contradicts the authentic customs, traditions, and divine laws outlined in the Holy Quran and the Prophet’s Sunnah. It emphasized the importance of spreading awareness of genuine Arab culture and avoiding Western ideologies aimed at distorting the true essence of Iraqi society.
The workshop concluded with an open dialogue session to discuss the most effective approaches to combatting the spread of this phenomenon and raising students’ awareness of the necessity of adhering to correct Islamic ideology while avoiding concepts and trends that tarnish the rich history of our civilization.
