The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop for fourth-year students on the preparation of graduation research projects, supervised by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Badawi.

The workshop included two lectures. The first lecture, titled “Fundamentals of Graduation Research,” was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Mayali, the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs. The second lecture, titled “Simplified Steps in Writing a Graduation Research Project,” was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Abdul Hafez Al-Zubaidi.

During the lectures, the presenters summarized the key ideas related to graduation research, including preparation and the obstacles students face, along with explanations on how to overcome them. They also addressed essential aspects (formal and substantive) that the research should encompass, starting from selecting the topic, developing the scientific plan, formulating it, adhering to rigorous scientific methodology, and presenting the subject matter objectively, avoiding personal biases. Moreover, they emphasized the importance of academic integrity in writing, steering clear of improper methods and violations to avoid legal consequences, as all research projects will undergo plagiarism detection by the college free of charge.

Furthermore, they highlighted the necessity of maintaining regular communication with the supervisor and updating them on details promptly to incorporate their feedback, thus enhancing the research’s scholarly rigor.

In conclusion, students were reminded of the importance of completing their research within the college’s specified timelines and avoiding delays in submission, which could affect the scheduling of academic discussions chaired by specialized scientific committees across all scientific disciplines. Additionally, they were encouraged to listen to and address any queries or concerns they may have regarding the preparation of their graduation research projects.
