The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad held a scientific lecture for postgraduate students on the dissemination of scientific research in reputable journals titled “The Nature of Political Reform”. Assistant Professor Dr. Farah Diaa Hussein, during her lecture, defined the nature of political reform, stating that reform linguistically stems from the verb “to reform” which means to rectify or amend thoroughly, removing corruption among people and reconciling between them, which is the opposite of corruption. Reform is thus the change towards rectitude in accordance with wisdom’s call. She explained that reform can be defined as a moderate or incremental modification or development in the form of governance or social relations without undermining their foundations, illustrating the meaning of political change, which refers to the overall transformations that political structures undergo in a society, redistributing power and influence within the state itself or among several states. In conclusion, the floor was opened for dialogue to address queries and concerns of postgraduate students regarding the lecture.
