The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the PHD thesis entitled “Political Leadership and the Peacebuilding Process in Pluralistic Societies Iraq – Malaysia, a Comparative Study” by the student “Shahd Ghaleb Ali” under the supervision of Professor Dr. Omar Juma Imran.
The thesis explained that political leadership has great importance and a vital role in the conduct of public affairs and the management of institutions within the political system, in addition to its importance and weight in the political decision-making of countries, which are considered the most important variables affecting the political system. The role of political leadership is highlighted in determining the strength and status of the state through its performance in Employing the elements of the state’s material and human power, directly or indirectly, in building stability, development effectiveness, and progress.
The thesis aimed to conduct a scientific comparative attempt to demonstrate the role of political leadership in establishing stability and peace in its societies, especially the role played by the political leadership in Malaysia, and how these leaders influence their societies by achieving the desired goals and plans drawn up at the political, social and economic levels, as well as their awareness of social contradictions. facing society and its awareness of the challenges that stand in the way of the peacebuilding process, to benefit from this experience for the political leadership in Iraq, to develop appropriate mechanisms, especially since there is some similarity between the political and social situation between Malaysia and Iraq, which serves the goal of scientific comparison.
At the end of the viva, the researcher was awarded a PHD degree with a grade of “very good.” We wish all our dear students good luck and success in their academic and professional lives.
