The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad held an intellectual symposium entitled “Lady Zainab bint Ali, peace be upon them, a contemporary political vision,” under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Budaiwi.
The symposium delivered by Dr. Jassim Muhammad Abdul Karim,in the political thought Department, included a reference to the intellectual vision of Lady Zainab (peace be upon her) in confronting the deviation of the Umayyad authority by adopting the “principle of inheritance in governance” in contravention of the Shura and the text, as Lady Zainab “peace be upon her” was able to spread this intellectual vision after AlTaaf incident in several places in the Islamic countries. In addition to meeting with the poles of the political situation at that time in Kufa and Damascus, as “peace be upon her” proved that she was a partner with the man “Imam Hussein, peace be upon him” in the reform process, and no reform process will succeed unless women did have a specific place in it.
