The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis titled “The Value System and Its Impact on the Performance of Local Political Leaders in Iraq after 2005” by the student Rawaa Kazem Farhood.
The thesis clarified that the representation of the value system within the Iraqi society is a cornerstone with a high level of respect due to its deep-rooted presence in the minds and souls of Iraqis. It stands as one of the crucial factors of societal deterrence in our current times, an effective element governing social interactions in the country. Despite the imbalance resulting from various internal and external influences such as authoritarianism, corruption, globalization, and international sanctions after 1990, with their significant repercussions on the beliefs and thoughts of individuals, the researcher discussed the independent variable of the thesis (the value system) and the dependent variable (local political leaders) and the relationship between them.
The researcher then examined the nature of the Iraqi value system by categorizing it, studying its legal adaptation, and highlighting the key factors affecting its imbalance. Furthermore, the thesis demonstrated the impact of the value system on the performance of these leaders from two perspectives: first, through interviews with representative models of these leaders, and second, by gauging public opinion through a targeted survey among an elite group.
At the end of the discussion, the researcher was awarded a master’s degree with a “very good” rating, and we extend our best wishes for success to all our esteemed students in their academic and professional endeavors.
