The Educational Counseling Unit and the Women Empowerment Coordinator at the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad held an introductory workshop on the concept of extremism and violent extremism under the auspices of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Budaiwi.
Assistant Professor Basma Al-Awqati indicated during her managing of the session that the workshop included the participation of a number of college students, explaining that the first participation was for the student Zaid Ihsan from the second stage, in which he dealt with the concept of extremism and its consequences on society, and the second participation was for the student Esraa Hassan from the third stage of evening studies, which she was clarified the concept of religious extremism, and the third participation was from the student, Ali Qasim, in the fourth stage of evening studies, where he dealt with the concept of extremism and violent extremism in detail through mutual dialogue with the attendance of teachers and students. The last participation was the student, Mustafa Hassan, from the first stage of evening studies. He clarified through it the general meaning of extremism and the role of state institutions and educational institutions in it.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Political Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Budaiwi, praised the students’ participation, indicating the need for students to participate in such seminars and workshops in order to increase the educational, scientific and practical awareness of the college students.
