The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis entiltled (The role of Islamic Parties in the Political Life of North African Countries after 2011: The Kingdom of Morocco and Mauritania as models) by the student “Zainab Amin Jassem”
The thesis deals with the reality of the work of Islamic political parties in the countries of North Africa, especially in the countries of Morocco and Mauritania. It starts with the theoretical frameworks of political parties and political participation as a main goal of political work. It concludes that political parties are a necessity for development and sustainability of any pluralistic democracy, regardless of the ideology and ideas it carries, as it is one of the tools that guarantee participation in power and in political life and the expression of the will and desire of people, which forms the basis of government authority in any democratic state. Then the study sheds light on the emergence of Islamic political movements and parties in North Africa, as it deals with the role of parties in political life and political participation and their contribution to the official institutions (legislative, executive and judicial) for the two models of the study, and from them it defines the constitutional and legal framework of Islamic political parties, and the most important mechanisms that they follow in political participation. The study diagnoses the reality of the political action and political participation of Islamic political parties in Morocco and Mauritania, and their interaction with the existing political regimrs between the loyalists and the opposition.
At the end of the viva, the researcher is awarded a master’s degree with a grade of high “very good”. Wishing all college students success in their academic and practical lives.
