{"id":5914,"date":"2026-09-23T10:22:01","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T10:22:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.copolicy.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5914"},"modified":"2026-09-23T10:22:01","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T10:22:01","slug":"college-of-political-science-discusses-a-masters-thesis-on-the-role-of-strategic-management-in-enhancing-local-governance-capacities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.copolicy.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=5914","title":{"rendered":"College of Political Science Discusses a Master\u2019s Thesis on the Role of Strategic Management in Enhancing Local Governance Capacities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad held, on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, a discussion of the Master\u2019s thesis submitted by postgraduate student Namarq Ali Lazim, entitled \u201cThe Role of Strategic Management in Enhancing Local Governance Capacities \u2013 Iraq after 2014.\u201d The discussion was held in the Dr. Jihad Al-Hassani Hall at the College.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>The thesis consisted of three chapters. It examined strategic management as an integrated approach based on long-term planning, future-oriented thinking, and the identification of goals and priorities. It also addressed the role of local governance in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of public administration, particularly in light of the challenges faced by Iraq after 2014.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>The study sought to demonstrate the role of strategic management in developing the performance of local governance institutions amid the political, security, economic, and health challenges experienced by the Iraqi provinces, as well as the resulting security, humanitarian, and service-related repercussions, particularly waves of displacement, the destruction of infrastructure, and the decline in the level of public services.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><strong>The study concluded that strategic management represents a pivotal tool for enhancing the capacities of local governance through improving planning, developing implementation and monitoring mechanisms, and increasing the efficiency of local institutions in dealing with crises and changing circumstances.
