As part of the activities organized by the Student Affairs Division, the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad held a distinctive academic event for first-year students in the Departments of Political Systems and Political Thought. The program featured a scholarly debate between students of the two departments, supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Sidad Mowlood Sabi and Lecturer Dr. Alia Abdulamir, reflecting a high level of academic engagement, analytical capacity, and the ability to articulate perspectives with intellectual rigor.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Simultaneously, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Sidad Mowlood and Dr. Yusra Mahdi, students of the Department of Political Systems conducted a dialogue session about strengthening national identity in Iraq. They addressed the dimensions of national identity and its significance in consolidating social belonging and promoting stability.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the same context, Assistant Professor Dr. Maysaa Latif presented a paper titled \u201cSport as a Non-Traditional Actor in Promoting National Unity: A Reading in the Dynamics of Social Cohesion,\u201d which highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities in shaping student character, since it embodied students\u2019 engagement through an interactive activity.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This initiative contributes to the realization of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education, by fostering critical thinking and constructive dialogue among students; Goal 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, through the reinforcement of civic values and national identity; and Goal 17 on Partnerships, by integrating academic efforts in supervision and guidance. In the closing remarks, these activities underscored the role of educational institutions in preparing effective staff capable of advancing sustainable development at both the national and societal levels<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
