The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad hosted the Sustainable Development Week celebration from April 11\u201316, 2026, in the college halls. This vital initiative was organized by the Student Activities Division, in collaboration with the Technology Incubator and Ecosystem Unit, and the supervision of several faculty members. It aimed to promote environmental awareness and embed a culture of sustainability within the university community.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The celebration activities constituted an art exhibition featuring painting and design on themes of environment and recycling; in addition to a student quiz competition on environmental issues; and a performance written and directed by the student Alaa Mohammed Maatoug, highlighting the importance of social responsibility in protecting natural resources and fostering positive environmental behaviors.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

These activities were carefully designed to inspire students to engage in a creative and innovative manner with environmental challenges, in a way that links theoretical knowledge to practical application through artistic and cultural activities that reinforce sustainability concepts. They aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13, \u201cClimate Action,\u201d through raising awareness of the need to address climate change; Goal 12, \u201cResponsible Consumption and Production,\u201d by encouraging recycling practices; and Goal 4, \u201cQuality Education,\u201d represented by adopting interactive learning methods that enhance student participation and nurture their creative capacities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The college, through this organization, promoted its commitment to continuing the annual organization of Sustainable Development Week, while also expanding student participation and strengthening applied initiatives that contribute to positive environmental impact both within and beyond the university campus.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
