The College of Political Science, the University of Baghdad, organized a student field visit to the Library of the Holy Al-Kadhimiya Shrine (al-Jawadayn Public Library) and the Imams al-Jawadayn Museum in the city of Al-Kadhimiya on Thursday, April 16th, involving four undergraduate students from the fourth year, accompanied by of several faculty members.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This religious initiative aimed to promote students’ historical and cultural knowledge; cooecting theory to practice. During the visit, students explored the valuable scientific and intellectual resources at the library, as well as the museum\u2019s exhibits, which interpret aspects of Islamic heritage and the civilizational history of the Holy Al-Kadhimiya Shrine.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Prior coordination was organized with the library and museum administration to schedule the visit and design the effective cultural and educational program. The program started by welcoming the student delegation and organizing guided tours through both the library\u2019s departments and the museum\u2019s halls, thereby providing students with direct exposure to the civilizational legacy.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The visit aligns with a few essential Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4, \u201cQuality Education,\u201d by promoting experiential learning beyond the classroom; Goal 11, \u201cSustainable Cities and Communities,\u201d represented by the preservation of cultural and civilizational heritage; and Goal 16, \u201cPeace, Justice, and Strong Institutions,\u201d through reinforcing the role of cultural and religious institutions in strengthening social identity and intellectual stability.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The visit reflected effective educational benefit through interactive learning, which contributed to the development of students\u2019 cultural and historical awareness, while also enhancing their understanding of the role of cultural and religious institutions in safeguarding civilizational memory and consolidating values of academic and national belonging, thereby underscoring the importance of field-based learning in supporting academic advancement.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
