The College of Political Science \u2013 University of Baghdad hosted, on Thursday, 12\/2\/2026, the second meeting of the Committee of Deans of Colleges of Political Science and Heads of their Departments at Iraqi universities. The meeting was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Abdul Hamza Al-Badiwi, Dean of the College and Head of the Committee of Deans of Colleges of Political Science in Iraq, and was attended by the deans and heads of departments.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting discussed a number of important scientific and academic issues, including a review of the letter issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research concerning the formation of committees to evaluate the scientific and academic status for the academic year 2025\u20132026. It also addressed the letter from University of Baghdad \/ College of Political Science regarding the establishment of a PhD program in the field of Governments and Local Administration. In addition, mechanisms for updating and developing the approved textbooks in colleges and departments of political science were discussed to ensure alignment with contemporary scientific and temporal developments.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to support Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by developing curricula and enhancing the quality of higher education. It also contributes to achieving Goal 17 related to scientific competencies and Goal 18 concerning academic rigor within the objectives of the National Security Strategy, through elevating academic standards and building solid scientific capacities.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The committee confirmed that all topics discussed during the meeting will be submitted to the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to obtain an official opinion and ratification of the meeting minutes in accordance with established procedures.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Dean of the College of Political Science Participates in the Official Graduation Photo Day for Students<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Dean of the College of Political Science \u2013 University of Baghdad, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Abdul Hamza Al-Badiwi, took part in the official graduation photo day for the College\u2019s students. The event was attended by a large number of faculty members and held in a celebratory academic atmosphere that reflected the significance of this pivotal milestone in the students\u2019 academic journey, in addition to the presence of several graduates\u2019 families.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

During his participation, the Dean affirmed that the graduation photo day represents a well-established academic tradition that embodies the outcome of the students\u2019 scholarly efforts throughout their years of study. It also reflects the depth of the academic and human relationship that connects the College with its students and faculty members. He emphasized the College\u2019s commitment to accompanying students throughout the various stages of their educational journey up to the moment of graduation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The event also witnessed the participation of several faculty members who expressed their pride in their students, affirming that this occasion marks the culmination of an academic journey grounded in commitment and academic discipline. They highlighted the pivotal role of the teaching staff in supporting and guiding students both scientifically and intellectually.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This participation aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) through fostering a supportive and excellence-driven educational environment, and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by reinforcing values of institutional belonging and building a conscious university generation capable of contributing to societal and institutional stability.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The event comes as part of the College of Political Science\u2019s orientation toward documenting key academic milestones, celebrating students\u2019 achievements, and strengthening the university\u2019s role in preparing competent scientific cadres that contribute to serving society and the state.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
