The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed, on Sunday morning, January 18, 2026, the master\u2019s thesis submitted by the student Rouz Nazar Ahmed, entitled \u201cThe Phenomenon of Child Labor and Its Impact on Iraqi National Security after 2003,\u201d at Dr. Jihad Al-Hasani Hall in the College.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis examined the phenomenon of child labor as one of the complex social issues influenced by the political, security, and economic transformations that Iraq has experienced since 2003. It highlighted its repercussions on societal, human, and economic security, as well as the challenges it poses to social stability and human capital, in addition to the potential exploitation of children in unsafe environments or within informal and unregulated activities.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The study adopted an integrative methodology combining qualitative, quantitative, and historical approaches, through analyzing relevant local and international official data related to child labor, poverty, education, and the labor market, alongside an analysis of legislative frameworks and social protection programs. This approach enabled the presentation of an in-depth analytical reading of the phenomenon and its implications for Iraqi national security.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The examination committee consisted of the following faculty members:<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u2022 Prof. Dr. Ahmed Adnan Kazem \u2013 Chair<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u2022 Asst. Prof. Dr. Hisham Az Alden Majd \u2013 Member<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u2022 Asst. Prof. Dr. Istabraq Fadhil Shaeer \u2013 Member<\/span><\/strong>
\n\u2022 Prof. Dr. Muntasir Majid Hamra \u2013 Member and Supervisor<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The contents of the thesis also align with several Sustainable Development Goals, most notably: Goal 1 (Eliminating Poverty), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities).<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the defense, the committee decided to accept the thesis with a grade of \u201cVery Good.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
