The College of Political Science \u2013 University of Baghdad, in cooperation between the Department of International Studies and the Ibn Sina E-Learning Unit, organized a seminar on Monday, October 27, 2025, in Al-Hurriya Hall, under the title:<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u201cCritical Thinking and Its Impact on Developing the Abilities of Postgraduate Students.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar was presented by:<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022 Prof. Dr. Faieq Hassen Jasem<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022 Asst. Prof. Dr. Awrad Mohammed Malik<\/strong><\/span>
\nand was moderated by Asst. Lect. Hussein Fadel Al-Mallouh.<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe seminar aimed to enhance students\u2019 ability to logically analyze and systematically evaluate ideas and information, enabling them to distinguish between opinion and fact. It addressed the following main topics:<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022 The importance of critical thinking as a fundamental cognitive tool in university and postgraduate education.<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022 The role of critical thinking in developing an analytical and critical mind capable of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing phenomena scientifically.<\/strong><\/span>
\n\u2022 The shift from merely acquiring knowledge to the ability to analyze, critique, and employ it in generating new knowledge.<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe seminar also focused on strengthening students\u2019 skills in academic discussion and systematic analysis, while encouraging constructive criticism in classrooms and research seminars.<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe seminar concluded with recommendations to integrate critical thinking as a core subject in postgraduate programs and to train both faculty and students in applying critical thinking skills in academic analysis and discussion.<\/strong><\/span>
\nThis event aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), linking to Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), in line with the national plan for educational development and the enhancement of students\u2019 analytical and scientific awareness.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
