A group of third-year students (morning and evening studies) from the College of Political Science \u2013 University of Baghdad carried out a scientific visit to the Iraqi Council of Representatives, as part of a student initiative aimed at enhancing their practical understanding of the functioning of the legislative institution and its roles within the Iraqi political system.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

During the visit, the students toured the corridors of the Council and learned about the nature of the work of the members of parliament and the parliamentary committees, as well as the mechanisms of discussing and voting on draft laws. They also listened to explanations provided by the Council\u2019s staff regarding the legislative and oversight processes, and the role the parliament plays in formulating and monitoring the implementation of public policies.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The students exchanged discussions and ideas about the importance of parliamentary work in consolidating the principles of democracy and good governance, emphasizing that this field experience provided them with a practical understanding of how the legislative authority exercises its constitutional role in serving society.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This visit comes within the framework of student initiatives from the College aimed at deepening political and institutional awareness, and linking academic knowledge with practical reality, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), which focuses on supporting the development of effective, accountable institutions and promoting civic participation in advancing good governance and the rule of law.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
