As part of its commitment to advancing its academic presence and enriching the national scholarly dialogue, Prof. Dr. Ibtisam Mohammed Al-Amiri and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayad Malik Abdul Majeed, from the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad, participated in the second scientific conference entitled “Environmental Balance and Its Impact on Peacebuilding: Challenges, Opportunities, and Solutions.” Held from October 6-7, 2025, the conference was organized by the Center for Peacebuilding and Peaceful Coexistence at the University of Mosul, in collaboration with the College of Law.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The conference tackled the importance of environmental balance as one key component of achieving sustainable peace since environmental conservation is essential in reducing conflict, supporting societal stability, and achieving sustainable development. Participants also discussed several research papers that addressed the dimensions of the relationship between the environment and public policy, and the role academic institutions can play in supporting green peace initiatives and facing environmental challenges.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The participation of faculty members from the College of Political Science underscores the college’s leading academic role in addressing issues of humanitarian and strategic concern, while highlighting the interconnectedness of peace, environment, and sustainable development concepts as fundamental pillars of building safe and balanced societies.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This academic presence is part of the college’s broader policy to promote scientific research and foster meaningful collaborations with Iraqi universities, while also consolidating the values \u200b\u200bof scientific cooperation and integration to promote environmental and social stability in ways that align with Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
