The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the National Security Service, organized an awareness workshop entitled \u201cDrugs and Psychoactive Substances and Their Impact on the Individual, Family, and Society,\u201d attended by a number of faculty members and students at Al-Hurriya Hall in the College.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to shed light on the health, social, and security risks posed by this scourge, highlighting its negative reflection on family stability and social cohesion, in addition to raising youth awareness about the dangers of falling into its trap.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop was delivered by a lecturer from the National Security Service, who discussed the types of drugs and psychoactive substances prevalent in society, the methods of promotion, and the ways vulnerable groups are targeted. As well, he highlighted the health, psychological, and social effects that lead to family disintegration, rising crime rates, reduced productivity, and threats to community security and stability. The presentation also reviewed the security efforts to combat this phenomenon through the pursuit of drug trafficking and promotion networks, as well as by enhancing preventive and awareness initiatives in cooperation with educational institutions.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop witnessed active participation from the attendees, who posed questions and offered insights that reflected great interest in the topic and its serious implications.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This event comes within the framework of supporting the third Sustainable Development Goal (Good Health and Well-being), particularly Target 3.5, which calls for strengthening drug abuse prevention and addiction treatment., thereby contributing to building an aware, healthy, and stable society.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
