The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Political Science \u2013 University of Baghdad, held a specialized scientific workshop at Jihad Hall entitled: \u201cCommon Linguistic Errors in Official Correspondence.\u201d The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Sally Abdul Latif Dhiab, with wide participation from faculty members and administrative staff of the College.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to raise the linguistic and administrative competence of all academic and administrative cadres by addressing the most common errors in official documents and correspondence, and by enhancing administrative and academic writing skills in an accurate and rigorous manner. It included a presentation of practical examples from official correspondence and academic documents, along with applied exercises designed to improve participants\u2019 ability to draft official and academic texts correctly and proficiently.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop also discussed the importance of adhering to proper linguistic style in all official correspondence, given its direct impact on the accuracy of academic and administrative work, the speed of accomplishment, and the overall level of professionalism within the College. This, in turn, contributes to strengthening institutional performance and improving the quality of both educational and administrative outputs.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The lecturer highlighted that common linguistic errors may lead to misinterpretations or distortions in the content of official messages and academic documents, underscoring the importance of continuous training and the establishment of a strong linguistic foundation for faculty and staff. This is precisely what the College seeks to promote through such workshops.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The recommendations emphasized the need to circulate the workshop\u2019s content across all academic and administrative departments, and to encourage participants to adhere to correct linguistic rules in both official and academic correspondence. Such measures would ensure the enhancement of academic and administrative performance and achieve institutional harmony.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This workshop is part of the College\u2019s efforts to develop institutional capacities and build human competencies in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. It also aligns with the pillars of the Iraqi National Plan for improving administrative and academic performance and strengthening functional efficiency in government and educational institutions.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop represents a practical step toward promoting a culture of sound professional practice among faculty and staff, and toward developing official writing skills. It contributes to building strong and effective educational and administrative institutions capable of meeting national, administrative, and academic challenges with high efficiency, and to creating an organized and stable working environment that supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in Iraq.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
