As part of an initiative aimed at showcasing the cultural and touristic potential of the capital, the Government Media and Communication Unit at the College of Political Science \u2013 University of Baghdad participated in organizing a large-scale celebration on the occasion of Baghdad\u2019s selection as the Arab Capital of Tourism. The unit presented a special visual presentation featuring footage of the most prominent historical and touristic landmarks of Baghdad, produced by its technical staff.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This event was part of a comprehensive festival organized by the Student Activities Unit under the supervision of the lecturer Areej Saad Adnan, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit. The festival featured a wide range of cultural, artistic, and academic activities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The celebration opened with an art exhibition showcasing paintings created by faculty and students, reflecting the beauty and rich touristic heritage of Baghdad. The event also included a student poetry gathering, where students expressed their deep love and belonging to Iraq through powerful nationalistic poems.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

On the academic side, the Continuing Education Unit held a scientific workshop titled \u201cBaghdad: The Arab Capital of Tourism\u201d, during which several faculty members presented valuable research papers. These included:<\/strong><\/span>

\n\u2022 Asst. Lecturer Amani Nouri (in collaboration with Asst. Lecturer Fatima Al-Zahraa Fadhil)<\/strong><\/span>

\n\u2022 Asst. Lecturer Fatima Farhan<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The papers addressed the challenges facing the tourism sector and explored strategies for its development through planning, media, investment, and cultural openness.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

This celebration represents a meaningful contribution by the College of Political Science in supporting the national vision of promoting Baghdad as a distinguished tourist destination\u2014one that bridges its ancient heritage with a promising future\u2014while reinforcing Iraqi identity and enhancing its regional and international presence.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
